The beginning of a new school year brings a lot of mixed feelings and a long and enjoyable summer. I first start to think of getting to see all of the wonderful ladies I teach with. Then my mind goes on to o' no I have so much work todo. I guess the first place to start would be to actually get my classroom organized
Here I go. As I come in to my class everything is out of its pace because of all the cleaning that takes place each summer. I look around my room with exciting expectation. What kind of class will I have this year. Wow! No time for that I have to get organized. I have to get everything back in its place and just right for Meet the teacher night. I have my work cut out.
Arranging the desks will be my first priority. I have mine in place and then place the kids desks next. Organization it what I rely on. Time to get Organized!
The beginning of the school year brings about several different types of emotions, but luckily, you start out with a strong mindset to organize! Organization allows for easier transition, which in turn can allow for a friendlier classroom. It is always good to have a game plan in order to know where one is headed; every journey must have a beginning. As organization allows for easy access, organization can also create a better impact for other educational areas such as digital storytelling.
ReplyDeleteDigital storytelling (DST) has proved to be a magnificent strategy that I am excited to use in the classroom. Connecting what you mentioned about the beginning of the year, digital storytelling can help you in your goals for organization! You could make a DST about classroom rules, centers, important people around school, how to go through a lunch line, etc. The possibilities are endless! Children appreciate the opportunity to absorb information in a format different than just verbal instructions. This would be a good idea to implement in your classroom as you begin your search for organization.
Overall, teachers have a hard road ahead as the first day of school begins to get closer and closer. As you venture into your classroom and think about the students that you have, do not forget about their technological awareness and interests. However, organization is fundamental in order to create a positive learning environment. It would be interesting to note the difference using DST would have for your kindergartners.
You are soooo right. Organization is the key to a great school year. I believe this applies not only to the physical classroom but also to the curriculum.
ReplyDeleteLearning the new technology or learning more indepth ways to use the technology are very exciting. However, for it to be effectively utilized in my classroom, I need to be organized. I want to integrate a little technology in to each unit I teach. That is going to require some organization on my part.
I hope before I teach each unit to have a couple of things in place. I want to have a clear idea of the technology I plan to use, a plan for how to best teach the technology to my students, and adequate assessments on how to best grade the work they have produced.
As the first day of school gets closer and closer, I'm starting to feel the pressure of not having these things accomplished. However, I do believe with each attempt of adding new and exciting things, I will get better.
